What is the Merchant Navy?
The Merchant Navy is the fleet of commercial ships that carry the world's cargo and passengers: tankers, container ships, bulk carriers, car carriers and cruise ships. It is not a defence service like the Indian Navy. Officers work for shipping companies, on contracts of several months at sea followed by time at home.
Deck officers navigate the ship; marine engineers run its machinery. After Class 12 PCM, the usual route is IMU CET, then DNS, B.Sc Nautical Science or B.Tech Marine Engineering, then sea training as a cadet. See the career ladder · Types of ships

Subject experts teach the IMU CET paper. Qualified professionals run Spoken English, grooming and civic sense. Marine faculty — actively sailing captains and officers — teach the ship-specific subjects and prepare you for company sponsorship interviews. The whole academy runs like a ship: punctual, disciplined, formal and focused.

Company interviews and psychometric tests
Most coaching stops at IMU CET. NavPath runs company-specific exam and interview modules for DNS sponsorship — Maersk, MSC, Anglo-Eastern, Fleet Management, Bernhard Schulte, Synergy and more — and college-specific modules for B.Sc Nautical Science and B.Tech Marine Engineering, with company-specific question banks and psychometric test practice. Selection rests with the company or college.

How do live online classes work?
You join live from home, anywhere in India. There is time to ask doubts in every class, and full practice tests with a review after each one.

Physics, Chemistry, Maths, English, general knowledge and aptitude — with practice tests for the May exam.
How do I join?
Check your eligibility. Apply for NEST, our IMU CET model test. If you are shortlisted, attend an interview and counselling session with a parent or guardian. Fee concessions are given purely on merit.
When do we hear about fees?
Fees are explained at counselling.
Do you help with sponsorship interviews?
Yes. We run company-specific exam and interview modules, spoken English classes, aptitude practice and grooming, so you walk into company tests prepared.
Can parents talk to you before we join?
Yes. At least one parent or guardian attends the interview and counselling session. Ask us about safety, hostels, training and life at sea.
